The Cash Game Festival on the Emerald Isle – Poker Room Breakfast & More …
October 12, 2017We Survived Friday 13th in Dublin!
October 14, 2017After a long poker night, some physical activity in a beautiful countryside location is exactly what one may need. On day 2 in Dublin, our team and the players were heading to play football golf. Yep, the name of the game may seem a bit weird but it is exactly what is sounds like – you play it like you’d play golf but with the football. And you get to run and kick the ball which makes it much more fun compared to the regular golf. Moreover, we could do it in the most scenic locations with green hills & great views – the landscape that is fresh and dynamic. There is a reason Ireland is called the Emerald Isle.
We were also very lucky with the weather; no rain, mild and slightly sunny. The whole experience was made even more fun by the fact that JP Mc Cann joined us in the activity. He is rather passionate about football, so football golf offered him some excitement and brought a much-appreciated break into his busy schedule.
The evening brought some excitement to the Village Green Card Club as there was news about Andy Black coming to the Cash Game Festival. Andy is considered to be one of the most talented tournament players in the world. According to the Hendon Mob, he is currently leading the Ireland’s all time money list. What makes Andy even more interesting is the fact that he is a Buddhist and has spent some years living as a Buddhist monk after discarding all his possessions. It happened in 1998 after flying back home to Ireland from WSOP 1998 without a single cash finish. He needed a break from the life of a poker player, losing his heart for the game for a while. Despite his success in poker, he was getting tired of the life-style and felt like his life needed a spring clean. He came out of the break stronger and is currently playing again.
Last night, Andy came to play at our €2/€5 Omaha live TV table, arriving a little late. He seemed to enjoy the game so much that he continued playing well into the night after the live stream had already ended. He is most likely to be back again this evening and it would be real nice to get to know him better – to learn about his views on life and poker. Also, Chris Dowling, who is rather well-know cash game and tournament player, joined the same feature table. He is calling him-self a husband, a dad and a poker player, trying to keep the titles in that order to remain some balance in his life.
Talking about our TV table trophy. Will it go to Ireland this time? Namely, the Irish Kevin Malone won our yesterday’s first €1/€2 Omaha TV table session with €1,100 or 550 big blinds, and is currently in the run for the trophy. Not only would he win a trophy but also our €400 hospitality package for two to our next stop in Tallinn on Nov. 15-19.
On day 3 here in Dublin, the players will go out to eat and drink as our usual dinner to remember is in the books for tonight. Hopefully, there will be some local Irish delicacies on offer.
We will have a nice Friday ahead here in Ireland. Thank you all for joining our adventure!
Yours,
Cash Game Festival Team
