Will the Cash Game Festival’s TV Table Trophy Go to Ireland?
October 15, 2017TV Tables for Tallinn Filling Up Fast – Don’t Miss Your Chance!
October 23, 2017The Cash Game Festival in Dublin, Ireland was a success. The country is beautiful, the people are friendly and there is always something fun to do off the felt. What makes us extra happy, is the fact that we managed to tie the record of most simultaneously running poker tables at the Village Green Card Club. Moreover, working with JP Mc Cann was a pleasure and we would like to thank him from the bottom of our hearts! Hopefully, next year, we will have the pleasure of co-operating with him again by bringing good cash games and fun to Irish poker players.
Unfortunately, on Sunday in Dublin, we had to cancel one of our hospitality events, our tour to gorgeous Wicklow Mountains near Dublin. The buses would not operate in the expectation of the serious storm, the tail end of the Hurricane Ophelia hitting Ireland. It was, indeed, a windy and rainy Sunday. So, a decision was made to go to the nearest pub to enjoy some lovely Guinness. Despite the last minute cancellation of the tour, everybody seemed to enjoy their time in the pub before hitting the Village Green Card Club for some poker and the live TV table shows. No player had cancelled their plan to appear on the feature tables despite the storm warning. Way to go, the show must go on!
We are also very pleased with the fact that, in Dublin, we grew our CGF family even larger. We met nice players from the US, UK, Germany, Lithuania, Poland and, of course, from Ireland. Most of the new players we met, made a promise to be with us at the next stop in Tallinn on November 15-19. The ones who cannot make it to Tallinn, are impatiently waiting for the festival schedule of 2018.
On the last day of our Dublin festival, we handed over our second TV table trophy to an Irish player. Kevin Malone (in the feature image) was the proud winner of the trophy with 867.5 big blinds in 1/2 Omaha, breaking the record of 853 big blinds by the previous winner, Jon Kyte from Norway, who shipped the trophy in London. Both players will be joining us in Tallinn, attempting to win the trophy once again. So, the TV table sessions in Tallinn are promising some great action. We will make sure that these two gentlemen get to play at the same feature table. Of course, the battle between Ireland and Norway will be a friendly one.
The winner, Kevin Malone, is a very nice person, living just about 15-minute drive away from the Village Green Card Club in Dublin. The award certainly found itself a nice home. The CGF trophy is not his first, but he highly appreciates it since cash game poker is his game of choice. He is very excited about coming to Tallinn and we make sure he gets to sample some good Estonian beer, taking a break from the traditional Irish Guinness.
In Dublin, we also had the pleasure of having Andy Black, the Irish poker legend, attending the festival on two consecutive days, and playing some nice TV table sessions with us. Andy is known for the impressive tournament cash winnings and is currently in the lead of Ireland’s all time money list, according to the Hendon Mob. Andy was among the biggest winners at our TV table as well. On day 2, he managed to ship the profit of €1,553 in €2/€5 hold’em. However, the amount of big blinds won, exactly 310.6, was not enough to ship him the TV table trophy. Maybe next time!
Now that Dublin is done and November is almost knocking on the door, we are getting ready for Tallinn stop of November 15-19, making players’ list and adding finishing touches to our TV table venue which is promising to be extra fun this time. The festival will take place in the glamorous Olympic Park Casino right in the central area of Tallinn. Like always, the festival will offer various poker variations and low and high-stakes games. As soon as there are enough players wishing to play a certain game, a table will be opened. Due to this live event’s geographical location, we are expecting a rather high number of Swedish and Finnish players to attend. Always a pleasure to have our Scandinavian and Nordic friends at the festival. Moreover, expect a great night-time spa VIP party Tallinn!
Will You Join Us, Will?
Moreover, the well-known poker pro from UK, William Kassouf, whom we met in London, has promised to come to Tallinn festival for a few days. He appeared at our feature table in the grand Capital of England & UK on two consecutive days, spicing up the sessions with his unique “talkative” playing style. According to William, his November tournament schedule is going to be very busy. So, we are honored if he manages to squeeze in a couple of Tallinn days.
