Saturday madness at Aspers Casino
April 3, 2016Thank you London! We had a blast…
May 7, 2016Sunday usually means funday when it comes to the Cash Game Festival. Five long days and nights of live poker comes to a conclusion, with players and newfound friends getting a last chance to hang, recover and play some last hand together. When it’s fully normal to have a downswing in action because travelling players catch flights back home and online heroes have their Sunday grind going on, we still had some specials to treat our fans to from the Aspers Casino Stratford in London.
RankingHero have been a big part of these last festivals with several promotions and happenings online before the festival, and being generous with hosting and handing out competition giveaways throughout the events. Therefor it was fun to be able to showcase a table full of online qualifiers, team pro’s and brand ambassadors. The lineup was as follows: (1) Pedro Canali, (2) Gladys Morville, (3) Danielle Alexandre, (4) Kjell Lindqvist, (5) George Williams, (6) Maurice Israel, (7) Lucille Cailly and (8) Hugues Lavieu.
Since the qualifiers in the RankingHero got £100 free money to play for, all players started with that amount. After going bust/short there was no limit to the top up and both Pedro Canali and Hugues Lavieu bought in for more quite early. After her runner-up place in Monte Carlo’s EPT Main Event 2012 behind Mohsin Charania, Lucille Cailly was by far the most known player on the table. Unfortunately for the viewers she went bust and let her seat up for someone else, opting to use her ambassador role in other ways by joining Björn Gustafsson on commentary as a guest. A very friendly few hours ended with Danielle up £239 and Gladys following behind in second spot with a profit of £183. Biggest loser on the table was Pedro Canali, splashing a few too many pots and losing £366, but adding to the dynamic by giving lots of action.
Just like the prior day, sports played a huge part of building the vibe and testosterone levels in the casino. Premier League brought two interesting games but the big game of the day was England playing cricket versus West Indies in the ICC World Twenty20 final. A very evenly matched game saw West Indies take it down by 4 wickets in the very end. Players seems to have been in a good mood anyway and the cheers throughout the match brought some well needed energy for a lazy Sunday afternoon. It also acted as a good buildup for the last Twitch-stream of the week.
Former chess star and now poker pro Jeff Sarwer, joined the commentary to assist with his omaha knowledge when we were showing a juicy £10/£25 table. After missing out on him two nights ago when he opted to play at another table, we finally were able to showcase Leo “ISILDRooN” Nordin. Finnish online shark and Amsterdam Classics winner Jussi Nevanlinna was back and so was Romanian highstakes player Vasile Cosmin Stancu. Vasile was yesterday’s biggest winner with a £15k profit at the £25/£50 NLH. Early on he was playing about £30k in front of him, covering all the other players combined. He later ended the session about £1k down, but providing lot of the action by being one of the most active players at the table.
We saw some great plays and many interesting hands, but maybe not as much action as we initially hoped for. Many solid players meant few mistakes, and in the end Jussi Nevanlinna drew the shortest straw by losing some key hands and dropping around £5k. With a late rush on the stream, Gary Miller sailed up as the clear winner and bringing home a £6600 profit. Second biggest winner was Swedish PLO star Leo Nordin with a decent £1700 win. After the stream several of the players continued to new tables, whilst some opted to have a few drinks in the bar. In the poker room there still was action on all different types of tables and levels. It made it even more clear
