Bulgaria – Here we come!
June 16, 2016the Black Sea
July 1, 2016Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce you to Ja Pi, a Pokerihuone player with a mysterious name. That is not the only thing that is a mystery of this guy, but as the picture gives away he also have a liver that’s out of this world and a great mind set for whatever he does. It is a mystery that he survived the Malta trip but we are excited about him coming to Bulgaria as well. So please, enjoy the reading of our guest blogger from Malta speaking about his experiences from there; Take it away, Ja Pi!
It’s 2 AM and time to travel from Turku to Helsinki-Vantaa airport, i’m going to catch an early flight to Malta where
Cash Games Festival is hold. My expectations are sky high.
After the plane has landed i rapidly notice how cold finnish atmosphere with pouring rains has replaced to sunny
30 °C weather. It still feels so ideal cause the warm winds from the Mediterranean sea keep my snow white skin cool.
From above i saw tons of old rocky buildings and outdoor pools, but now i have arrived!
Time to meet our Pokerihuone contact person Hiski and grab a cab, check-in to hotel and to casino and reality
start to take shape. Not gonna feel any homesickness here!
At first day it’s time to get to know what Malta has to offer, cuisine is great and wine very tasty. What more can you need?
Girls ofc, girls are so fine here. Malta is very multicultural and you can surely notice it.
Time to play some poker. I sat down to 1/2e cash table and thanks to zero hours sleep and tons of booze my condition
is fun and loose. I don’t need to focus to keep my table image(drunken tourist) right, so i keep getting calls and raises everywhere.
Lucky for me, the poker gods seem to like me and i get all the cards i wanna. Set here, fullhouse there. Chips are
just flying to my corner. After 2 hrs session my 150e buy-in has growed to solid 400e, seems legit.
Its time to change the sweaty casino to even sweatier night club, and the rest is history…
Day 2 and it’s my time to shine on the TV-table. I got lots of experience from live tables, but the camera gave an
extra twist to that. I didnt want to embarrass myself to all my friends watching, but in the other hand it would be
awesome to make some hero call and brag with it so long that nobody wants to listen me anymore.
I usualy play PLO in cash games and Texas only at tournaments so i really needed to adapt my game here.
I do like to make miniraises but maybe my tournament-player background was a bit too much exposed and i kept shot down
with 3bets. I played with big scale of hands and tried to make it hard to get any reads of me.
My first bigger action was against solid estonian player Maret who played very tight game. My A8 hand paired up after the flop
when another ace game to town. I raised, Maret snap-calls. Turn was blanco, and the same thing all over again, i raise like 40% of pot
and snap-call right at me. From then i knew i was drawing dead, and the river-action was polite check-check and pot to Maret with AQ.
No good cards for me so it’s time to get that youtube-material on! Unfortunately the jokes on me.
I try to look strong with absolute rubbish on my hand and make pot-size raise after river, guy next to me didn’t buy it
and i lose the pot. My final raise was 100e to 95e pot, and he called me with ace high. Hero call indeed.
Very skillfulled american player Brendon won pot against me earlier with some suited nonsense (7J or something)
and was about to do it again. Nails in my pocket, small raise to get some action and 3 players in. 3 hearts to flop,
1/2 pot raise from me and the third guy out. It’s me and Brendon again. Turn blanco, ill make the raise and Brendon 3bets all in…
I overanalysed this one, i tought that Brendon tought that im gonna tought he’s holding the flush again(what he actualy did). Because the earlier flush draw he finished.
Well, i was wrong. He got 4K of hearts and session over for me.
Time to shut down the table and go to bar.
Later on we had Bowling Challenge, lots of beer and good time. I haven’t bowl that much in my life, and this was first time in 10 years at least.
My first round sure looked like it, both throws to gutter! I was happily surprised when 2nd round began, and my first throw was strike!
Me, shooting a strike! More beer and i started to play better and better, finally i got the privilege to add third place from the Bowling challenge to my résumé.
Day 3 and it seems bad idea waking up… hangover and thirsty. I ordered beer and wine from room service, and shortly after that life was smiling again.
Today we are going sailing with catamaran, how cool is that!
We had open bar, saw some dolphins and the usual stuff like that, monday for me yeah? But on the speedboat i met this lovely creature, little dog who kept
kissing me all the journey so i missed all the blue lagoons completely. She was chic… chicuau… chihuahua (ty google)
Wonderful trip, lots of amazing sights.
Back to hotel and couple of hrs sleep before night VIP-partys, when all the Jägermeister and 4,5L bottles of Absolute Vodka was gone i bet everyone
was feeling dizzy. Back to hotel at 7 AM.
Day 4 began with even more hangovish than yesterday, luckily we had pool party at afternoon. Some coctails, some beers, some swimming and lots of fun time.
Feeling much better already! The pool was at the rooftop of our Be-hotel, so nice view to Mediterranean backgrounds.
So fresh so clean again, im gonna win this bad boy you call life.
After swimming me and Mikko went to get some burgers and back to casino. 1hr of poker and it’s time to dinner-party!
Oh, that burger seem like a horrible idea now…
We travelled to brasillian restaurant at the gorgeous bay, luxury-boats ahead and wonderful buildings all around us. We heard that
Beckham’s got their own residence at that area also, maybe they are going to name their next baby St.Julians?
Food was so good and i was so full… pigs neck, chickens heart, ribs, steaks, everything animals have to offer to
our plate. After dining we all went back to casino to have “swedish desert” which means Baileys ofc.
Our final night here, so we collected good posse and went yet again to enjoy some good time at nightclubs. Really
memorable time even thou’ i do remember so little.
To summary, amazing trip! Thanks anyone involved, everything was organised perfectly and people were social and joyful.
Did i already mention the girls? Just cannot praise them enough, all the love.
I recommend Malta 100% to everyone, and also the Cash Games Festival-happenings. 31st august next stop at Bulgaria, see ya all there!
