Full house and ping pong to kick off the weekend
April 2, 2016Wrapping it up after five days of total success
April 4, 2016After three fun and successful days at Aspers Casino Stratford we just knew that Saturday would be as special and bring us tons of action and events going on outside of the tables as well. Next to the poker room, the casino has a sports and bar area, where visitors and poker players can relax and watch the games that are on display. And we all know weekends in England are holy when it comes to the footy, and this day was no different.
Arsenal were taking on Watford at home, with Tottenham playing away to Liverpool in the hunt for important points in the title race. Champions League chasers West Ham played a heated London derby against Crystal Palace fighting for their survival. And to cap it all off we had one of the biggest games on the planet this evening, the El Classico between football giants Barcelona and Real Madrid. This all meant it was a dead sure that football would be a big part of this fourth Cash Game Festival day.
Sponsors Guts Poker even brought their qualifiers, friends and poker pro Silje Nilsen to the Arsenal game, to give them all a VIP treatment that left smiles on everyones faces. Throughout the day and especially during the evening matches, we could hear cheers and loud outbursts throughout the casino and poker room when teams were scoring. It all created a fantastic added value to an already great poker atmosphere. Combine it with close to 30 tables at it’s midnight peak, and we couldn’t have been happier with the continued success story of this London festival.
The streaming sessions started with another extended game of deepstacked £1/£1 NLH, where all players bought in for 200bb or more. Duncan Higgins ended up converting his £200 buyin to just under £1100, making him the only winner at the table together with Geir Söndeland who added £170 to his wallet. Birger Strand, Tom Harris, Shah Raza and Hoa “H” Quan to mention a few were on the losing end of this table.
The second and final stream of the day gave us a rematch of the £25/£50 NLH, with returning players in Matt Moss, Javier Perez Estevez, David Pedro Leja and Nick Markou. Javier being the biggest winner on a TV table thus far after winning the concluding hand of last nights game with AA vs KK vs QQ and ending with a £15,4k profit. Today he cashed out a more modest winning of £700 and left the bigger numbers to the rest of his fellow players. Giuseppe Spadaro joined for the first time and provided some much needed gambling action, but left half way through with a hole of £8,5k burning in his pocket. Matt Moss was running cold and was the biggest loser of the session with a £13,6k loss. Biggest winner was Vasile Cosmin Stancu taking down £15k and behind him we found David with a healthy £6,5k win.
Tomorrow we are looking forward to a chilled Sunday and rounding of our festival week with a Cash Game Poker Tournament and a RankingHero special. More about those in our last recap on Monday morning. We are also giving away more goodie bags and card decks to our Twitch viewers, so make sure to login and watch Björn Gustafsson plus guests entertain you and cap off this festival with a big bang…
