Qualify to CGF Tallinn on June 12-16 at MPN
May 21, 2019Hurry Up! – Last Chance to Win a CGF Tallinn Package at MPN
May 25, 2019Ireland’s Karen Muir has been to many Cash Game Festivals and has watched her good friend Kevin Malone win a record three CGF trophies.
Although Karen is an amazing player in her own right, she has yet to win one for herself. That all changed during the CGF Malta at the Portomaso Casino on May 13-19, 2019 in partnership with the Malta Poker Championships when Karen became the first female player to win a CGF trophy!
The win couldn’t have meant more to Karen.
“I’m super delighted to win a CGF trophy as it is my favorite poker tour,” said Karen. “So, it means a lot!”
When many players think about the Cash Game Festival, especially those that have been to more than one, they think of everyone as family. Karen elaborated on why.
“Great people, great activities, and great poker make the Cash Game Festival one I try not to miss,” shared Muir about the Cash Game Festival.”
Along with the trophy for winning the most big blinds at any of the feature tables during the festival, Karen also won a VIP package to a future festival. Although Karen will be unable to make our next festival at Olympic Park Casino, she does plan to do her best to win a second trophy at our annual pilgrimage to Sunny Beach, Bulgaria on Aug. 7-11 at Platinum Casino.
“Unfortunately, I won’t be able to make it to Tallinn as my sister will be home during that time from New Zealand,” said Karen. “So my next stop will be at Sunny Beach where I plan to win my second CGF trophy and then I also will be in Tallinn in November.”
CGF Malta Feature Table Action
The first two feature tables began with a big bang on May 14. Cash Game Festival founder and two-time CGF trophy winner Martin “Franke” von Zweigbergk (pictured below) was the biggest winner at the first feature table after winning 522 big blinds in a €1/€2 no-limit hold’em game.
This is an impressive amount of big blinds but it didn’t last for long as Karen had something else in mind.
Karen went on to win 922 big blinds during the next €2/€2 pot-limit Omaha feature table, a lead that was too big for anyone to pass for the rest of the festival.
Daniel Nasman (pictured below) has also been to many Cash Game Festivals but not so many as of late. He made his return in a big way as he was the biggest winner at the first feature table on May 15 by winning 172 big blinds in €2/€2 pot-limit Omaha.
Bobby James, who has been hosting online streams on the Cash Game Festival Twitch channel on Tuesdays and Thursdays, followed this up with an impressive 175 big blind win at €2/€5 no-limit hold’em on the late feature table of the day.
While Kevin Malone (pictured below) was unable to add to his record with a fourth CGF trophy, he did come very close. He booked a massive profit of 733 big blinds at a €2/€2 pot-limit Omaha feature table on May 16. At other festivals, this big win could have very well been enough to win the trophy but Karen still won nearly 200 big blinds more and it was easy sailing for her the rest of the way.
Domenico Ferraro was the next player to win big at the feature table when on the second feature table of the day he won 165 big blinds at €2/€5 no-limit hold’em.
The stakes went up on the final day of the live streams on May 17 with two familiar names in Kevin Malone and Franke winning big. Between the two, they have claimed five Cash Game Festival trophies.
Kevin won his second feature table of the festival at the early €5/€5 pot-limit Omaha feature table by booking a profit of 311 big blinds. Franke followed this up by winning his second feature table of the festival with a 179 big blind win in €5/€10 no-limit hold’em.
Amazing Activities in Malta
Words can describe the amazing activities that took place in Malta, so maybe pictures will help. Players with the hospitality package had a blast with welcome drinks, bowling, a world-class dinner, and as you might expect in Malta, an extravagant VIP pool party. Our friends that qualified at 32Red Poker were among the many to enjoy the activities.
Here is a look at some photos taken by our amazing photographer Natalie Black.
