Cash Game Festival Finally in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria
August 8, 2017Poker en Bulgarie – Sous le soleil, Jour 1 CGF Sunny Beach
August 10, 2017Already well before welcome drinks at 5 PM, our team was greeted by some regular Cash Game Festival players form UK. London-based Michael Fletcher and James Simms were in the house already. AlsoLondon-based, Peter Cox was with us in Malta and came to Bulgaria because Malta stop left a good impression on him.
Dušan Hájekwho, who was also with us at Malta stop, was at the casino early quite wishing to join the first TV table of the day. He won CGF package via Betsson. At first, Dušan was happy to hang out in Sunny Beach, Bulgaria before getting down to some serious games. Monika Zukowicz, the professional Polish poker player and Betsafe’s ambassador arrived before 5 PM just to check in to the hotel and return to the Platinum casino later later in the evening. Bulgaria is her third CGF stop already.
This year, the Cash Game Festival will begin in an unusual way for some. Namely, Franke, the festival’s founder, also the sole organizer of Slowball Art on Wheels road trip, decided to drive a pre-loved Slowball car #39 straight from Åland Islands to Bulgaria via Denmark. We don’t yet know the exact time of his arrival but it should be, for sure, before the festival is over. There are occasional news coming in of a car breaking down, a missed highway exit, or an empty tire. However, it seems that the Slowball/Cash Game team is happy to be on the road and that their arrival in Sunny Beach is quite certain. Not to mention that Slowball car #39 is supported by the Cash Game Festival, and so far, this old Volkswagen Passat seems to be serving her sponsor very well. So, expect to see a beautifully painted car arriving outside the casino at some point. So, when Franke is in the house, simply run out to admire the piece of art. Just to make sure, maybe ask him first where exactly he parked it.
In fact, Monika Zukowicz participated in Slowball road trip too, and was invited to join the Cash Game Festival’s road trip to Bulgaria. She opted out this time, choosing to fly back to Poland and get geared up for the festival action.
Also, to make the matter more interesting, there is a rumour of another epic prop bet (Last year Bulgaria prop bet summary here.) on the way. However, we will find out if the rumors are true or not. Although, we would welcome one, for sure.
In the evening, the first hold’em table of the festival featured two lovely ladies from Norway who were at Sunny Beach for the holiday but popped in for some cash game action, having heard that there was such festival in town. They stayed for quite long and even tried their luck to win the full package to London Cash Game Festival.
VIP-Grinders’ Stanislav Stefanov was in the house. His colleague Jan Martinšek has been to the Cash Game Festival before, both in Tallinn and Slovenia. Now it was Stanislav’s turn to check out the venue. He him-self is not an overly keen poker player, so he enjoys the social aspect of the festival very much, hoping for some good parties and low stake poker games. In fact, he tried out 2 / 5 hold’em, the second Twitch TV table of the day, in seat #3 for the fun of it.
The first TV table was 1 / 2 hold’em. Seems that for the first time in Cash Game Festival history, we had two players from Norway sitting at the table. Norskpoker.com took notice and Tweeted about Norwegian players being present. Namely, Daniel Straume won a package to the Cash Game Festival via NordicBet, and brought along his friend Robin Klett. So, Robin decided to join the TV table as well. Why not to play a nice low limit hold’em with a friend. However, he made sure to not to sit next to Daniel to avoid any distractions during the game.
James Simms was the biggest winner of the first TV table. He “met” the Cash Game Festival at Aspers Casino in Stratford, London. Has been to our London stop for several times. Bulgarian stop is his first Cash Game Festival outside UK. After the TV table game, James joined our star commentator Brandon Allen for the live Twitch stream commentary to review some of his hands (the stream is live broadcasted with 20-minute delay).
So, why now Bulgaria for James? At Aspers, he noticed the great set up and nice people at the Cash Game Festival, so he has been back each time the festival is in London. He enjoyed the atmosphere so much that he decided to join us in Bulgaria as well.
The second TV table of the day was 2 / 5 hold’em. And look who is back! PokerStars Sunday Million winner Fahredin Mustafov, also now as Feribo, is back at the TV table. A known player in Bulgaria, he has been a loyal visitor whenever the Cash Game Festival is in Bulgaria. However, the biggest winner of the second TV table was Bulgaria’s Miroslav in seat #6 was with the profit of over 2000 EUR.
By 10 PM we had eight cash tables running already which is very good for an early Wednesday poker action. The action continued well into early morning hours of Day 2.
So, now the sweet part. How to win full packages and more to Cash Game Festival London stop in September? Daily, at full hours, coupons worth 25 chips are distributed to those who play at the table at the Cash Game Festival in Platinum Casino. Then, between 10 PM – 1 AM, the players can play those chips at the roulette table. By the end of the week, top 5 will win the prices, including full packages to London (hotels, hospitality packages and stake money) for the top 2 winners.
Day 2 hospitality event takes partner qualifiers and other players to a local winery to taste Bulgarian wines. The tasting is in between 1 PM to 4 PM, after which people will start returning to Platinum Casino.
Let’s make Bulgaria great again!
Yours,
Cash Game Festival Team
