DUBLIN OCTOBER 2017
October in Dublin! What a fun place it was for a 5-day poker rush.
Dublin marked our first stop in Ireland. This time, instead of playing poker at a casino like we normally do, our festival took place in the cozy Village Green Card Club founded by JP Mc Cann. JP is a great person and a known name in the Irish poker scene. We feel very lucky having had the chance to work with him. He enjoyed having us at his card club and was impressed by our team. Always happy to get such positive feedback! Makes us want to work even harder.
What can we say about Ireland? The country is beautiful, the people are friendly and there is always something fun to do off the felt. What makes us extra happy, is the fact that we managed to tie the record of most simultaneously running poker tables at the Village Green Card Club. The venue was smaller compared to our normal ones, so 5 simultaneously running cash game poker tables is a good result in a completely new location.
It was time to celebrate again as in Dublin, we handed over our second TV table trophy of 2017. When our first trophy in London went to Norway, then this time, it remained in Ireland. Kevin Malone from Dublin was the proud winner of all 10 live feature table sessions with the most big blinds – exactly 867.5 in €1/€2 Omaha. He loved the festival and gave us a promise to visit us at our Tallinn stop.
Moreover, we had the Irish poker legend Andy Black playing at our live feature tables on two consecutive days. It was fun having him around and his presence created some extra buzz as he is currently in the lead of Ireland’s all time money list, according to the Hendon Mob. A serious player, indeed. Welcome back to our festival any time!
Our wheel of fortune challenge (with a super cool old school wheel of fortune) final drawing saw players winning some cash, and ended up sending one local player to our next stop in Tallinn. Namely, Ireland’s Ross Cullen won a package valued at €1,650. What a nice way of showing him Tallinn – the package includes TV table stake money, Hilton hotel for two and our fun hospitality package for two. He can definitely bring a date or a friend and he or she will not be bored.
What did we do in Dublin off the felt? We had several fun and social activities planned for our players. We had our welcome drinks with Guinness, played super fun football golf on the green hills of Ireland, had a tasty dinner in a nice Irish pub and went to see a real dog race, a compliment from our awesome partner Betsafe. The players also received free bets and some ended up winning cash at the dog race. Unfortunately, our Sunday event, a nature tour to absolutely gorgeous Wicklow Mountains, was cancelled at the last minute, since the bus did not come to pick us up due to a storm warning, the tail end of the Hurricane Ophelia hitting Ireland. Despite the late cancellation we managed to have fun as we headed to a local pub for some Guinness. That’s the spirit!
We loved Dublin & Dublin loved us back!
