Cash Game Festival Malte – Un dîner au sein de la brousse, Jour 3
June 17, 2017Day 4 in Malta – Celebrating Champagne Day & Focus on Our Twitch
June 18, 2017Day 3 in Malta was successful in many ways. In the early hours of the day, we still had some tables running from the night before at Casino Malta by Olympic Casino. The number of tables kept increasing steadily throughout the day till we had a nice buzz going on in the poker room. There was a variety of games happening with no-limit hold’em and Sviten Special, setting the tone for the poker night ahead.
What is also nice about the Cash Game Festival, is the fact that many of our regular players really make an effort to come to these festivals. Some plan the festival trips in advance, making sure they are getting days off from work etc. Others do not plan ahead, but if they unexpectedly get some free time while the festival is on, they simply book a ticket and hop on the plane, always letting our team and other regulars know that they are on the way to the festival. Which then usually causes a huge wave of excitement – messengers go red with the news of immediate arrival. For example, Veli-Matti Puumala from Finland was in Vegas and about to fly back to Finland when, quite suddenly, he changed his plans and got on a flight to Malta instead. Oh, the excitement that followed – Veli-Matti in da house!
We have some exciting news for Sunday’s TV table Twitch stream. Namely, our very own Twitch star Brandon Allen is going to play poker on the early stream, instead of commenting the game. Who is going to be at the commentator booth then, one might wonder. Wonder no more! It will be Finland’s Petteri Vanhapelto‘s job tomorrow. He has been doing some commenting for the Cash Game Festival before, so the stream will be in good hands. Let’s wish Brandon good luck!
The side activity of day 3 was an epic dinner. Epic for two reasons. First, it took place in a private house and the food was cooked in the open-air kitchen by the family living in the house. Secondly, the family had lions in the backyard!! It is amazing that Andro Loos, the Cash Game Festival’s manager, managed to pull it off. The location was kept secret till the very end, until, before dinner, Andro invited all of us to the backyard where the lion cages were. The kind owner of the lions, Sean, lead the way to the cages and was the only person able to touch the lions that night. He did not want us taking any risks with our fingers. The lions, despite being used to humans, can still be dangerous. One playful bite can have serious consequences. And playful some of these lions were, acting like domestic cats at times and showing affection when the owner went near the cages. Nice big cats, indeed!
So, why would somebody have such pets, one might wonder. According to the owner, these lions would already be dead if they were not in his back yard. Namely, they are zoo lions that have been rescued from Libya. We did not get into detail how exactly the lions ended up in Malta. What is more important is that they are alive and well. What a memorable nigh it was!
