A NEW GAME IN TOWN
Six-Plus Hold’em is a new poker variant played with a deck of 36 cards. Online you can find it on all iPoker rooms and now at Aspers Casino you can play it live during the Cash Game Festival. The game most probably originates from the poker cash games in Macau and known professionals like Tom “Durrrr” Dwan and Phil Ivey do like the action this format creates. In short, it is Texas Hold’em but all the cards from deuce to five are taken out from the deck, leaving 36 cards instead of 52. The Ace can be used both as a low, A6789 making the lowest straight or the wheel that some people call it and it’s still high making the nut straight TJQKA. There are some differences in hand strength, like 3-of-a-kind beats a straight and a flush beats a full house (this due to the change of mathematical strength of each hand).
RULES
- After small and big blind are posted the dealer deals two cards to each player, and then there is the first betting round.
- Dealer burns one (1) card and deals the flop face up for the table and then there is the second betting round.
- After the second betting round the dealer burns one (1) card and deals the turn card and then there is the third betting round.
- Once the betting round is completed the dealer burns one (1) card and deals the river card, and then there is the fourth and final betting round.
- Show down.
If any betting round results in all players but one folding, the last surviving player immediately takes the pot without showing any cards, and this ends the hand.
If more than one player is still involved after the final round of betting, all players show their cards, and the winner of the pot is declared.
